Free software for the media?
To answer these (and many more) questions dedicated to software for the AudioVisual industry.
Free Open Source Software (FOSS) is popular in the IT world, but how good is it for AV professionals? Can you really use Open Source software to produce and distribute programmes? What about the quality, costs and training? How does it relate to closed alternatives? What are the pros and cons and how should you decide on its use in your organisation?
To answer these (and many more) questions, the EBU is organising an Open Source Seminar dedicated to software for the AV industry. International experts will introduce what Free Open Source Software actually means and demonstrate tools for editing, animation, compression, mixing and distribution. For 5 packages additional one-hour tutorials will be available (click here or on the red button above for a complete list of demos and tutorials).
There will also be plenty of opportunity to meet other media professionals and to learn about their experiences with FOSS
The event is taking place on 1 and 2 October 2007 at EBU headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland).
Target group:
- EBU Members and non-members
- Heads of technical departments, technical managers, heads of R&D
